Law 101 to Community Engagement


This course will provide basic fundamentals of the law and gain a broader understanding of how to use the law to affect change. Through the process of learning law participants will: 

  • gain basic understanding of our legal, political and justice systems. 
  • increase their ability to identify issues and connect them to realistic solutions and opportunities. 
  • understand realistic limitations and policies. 
  •  apply problem solving skills and scientific method to social justice issues. 

This program is intended to help you have a basic understanding of laws so that you can better reason through legal and politic issues of our time.  Engagement in this program provides you with opportunities to acquire new skills and knowledge, increase responsibility and accountability.

Ujima Community Education Series

Description: (Law 101)

Basic understanding of the US legal system and particular legal areas such as Landlord-Tenant, Contracts, Property, Criminal Law and Procedure and Family Law.  You will learn the fundamentals such that you will have to opportunity to access when engaging our legal system.
